SYNTHETIC DETERGENTS, or SYNDETS, are solid cleansing bars formulated with surfactant products and are sometimes preferred over natural toilet soap bars because of their adjustable, skin-friendly pH.

Even though their cost tends to be higher, the market for syndets is slowly growing in several countries at the expense of natural soap. A variation of syndet bars is combo bars, where the formula contains a combination of syndet and soap.

The production technology for syndet bars is similar to that of natural soap: starting from powders, waxes/creams, and liquids, the formulated mass is processed in a “finishing line.”

Our extensive experience with customers allows us to offer the best solutions for both typical and specialized syndets. In general, these products require more intensive mixing and precise temperature control. They are also more abrasive and stickier, making material selection crucial, and the dies must efficiently exchange heat.

For optimal SYNDET production in a SYNDET BAR FINISHING LINE, we employ:

• Double-Arm Sigma Mixer - an over-dimensioned version with a built-in extruding pelletizer, designed to efficiently mix SCI (Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate) or other surfactants with emulsifiers and additives.

• Roll-Mill - for reducing hard particles in the base, ensuring uniform granulometry.

• Duplex Vacuum Flexi Plodder - ideal for syndet materials, featuring a twin-screw top and our specialized FLEXi stage at the bottom for compact extrusion and precise temperature control, enhanced by turboflow units. Thermoregulated stainless steel screws further optimize performance (see FLEXi page for details).

• Single-blade Cutter - with a heated blade kit, designed for sticky products like syndet bars.

• Condor Flash-Stamping Machine - offering a unique stamping process superior to conventional flash-stamping systems. It ensures precise infeed, accurate extraction, and clean separation of flashings, making it ideal for soft shampoo bars (see the Condor page for details).
